Lung screening's benefits, challenges

In a randomized trial of 1,251 adults who smoked five or more cigarettes per day, neither varenicline plus a nicotine patch nor extended-duration treatment was superior to 12 weeks of varenicline monotherapy for abstinence.

Quitting smoking after early-stage lung cancer diagnosis associated with improved survival
Patients who quit smoking after being diagnosed with early-stage non-small-cell lung cancer had a 33% decrease in all-cause mortality and a 28% reduction in disease progression compared with those who continued smoking, a Russian prospective study found.

Guideline issued on home oxygen therapy for chronic lung disease
