Higher-dose vitamin D did not improve fall prevention, study finds
Elderly patients at high risk for falls who received 1,000 IU of a vitamin D supplement per day actually had higher risk of falls that were serious or required hospitalization than those who took 200 IU.

Smoking cessation study supports ‘never too early, never too late’
Smoking cessation was consistently related to lower risk of coronary heart disease, stroke, and peripheral artery disease (PAD), although a significantly elevated risk for PAD persisted up to 30 years after smoking cessation.

Obesity prevalence varies significantly among Asian American subgroups
Overall, Asian Americans had a 11.7% obesity prevalence, but rates varied from as high as 16.8% in Filipino Americans and 15.3% in Japanese Americans to 6.5% in Chinese Americans and 6.3% in Vietnamese Americans.

Patients with provoked VTE often on anticoagulation longer than recommended
Three variables were associated with receiving anticoagulation for longer than three months after a provoked venous thromboembolism (VTE): direct oral anticoagulant use, history of VTE, and history of myocardial infarction.
