Advice on monoclonal antibodies; new data on long-term COVID-19 symptoms, vaccine efficacy
The NIH offered guidance on prioritization when monoclonal antibodies can't be given to all eligible patients. Two studies looked at patients with persistent COVID-19 symptoms, and other research confirmed the safety and effectiveness of the vaccines, even with the delta variant.

Recombinant flu vaccine appears to provide benefit in patients ages 50 to 64 years
An industry-funded study compared a high-dose recombinant influenza vaccine with one of two standard-dose egg-based vaccines over two flu seasons and found patients who received a high-dose vaccine were less likely to test positive for flu.

Guideline released on adults with Down syndrome, while study looks at COVID-19 risk
A recent clinical guideline calls for screening patients with Down syndrome for Alzheimer-type dementia starting at age 40 years and diabetes starting at age 30 years. Down syndrome is also associated with high risk for death from COVID-19, a new study found.
