Candidates announced for Board of Governors Chair-elect Designee

Two candidates are seeking election as Chair-elect Designee of the Board of Governors.


Andrew Dunn, MD, FACP, and Alan D. Forker, MD, MACP, are seeking election as Chair-elect Designee of the Board of Governors. The Governors will be casting ballots online shortly, with the winner to be announced in mid-October 2013. The winner will begin his term as Chair-elect at the conclusion of Internal Medicine 2014 and take office as Chair in May 2015.

Dr. Dunn received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, where he is now the professor of medicine and chief of the division of hospital medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Dunn has been a Fellow of the College since 2001. He has shown his leadership and chapter involvement as a member of the New York Chapter's Health and Public Policy Committee, the NY ACP Council, Women and Heart Disease Advisory Group, the Program Planning Committee and more. He is a current member of the New York Chapter's Quality and Patient Safety Committee and is an associate editor of ACP Journal Club. He is currently Governor of ACP's New York Chapter, Manhattan-Bronx Region.

Dr. Forker received his medical degree from the University of Kansas. He completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic and is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He was chief of cardiology at the Truman Medical Center/University of Missouri-Kansas City Medical School. Presently, Dr. Forker is the director of the Lipid and Diabetes Research Center at Saint Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. Dr. Forker received his ACP Fellowship in 1975 and became a Master in 2009. He has continued to serve on several national ACP committees, such as the Awards Committee, Postgraduate/Chapter Education Committee, and the 100th Anniversary Committee. He has also previously served as Class Representative, Class of 2015, and on the Executive Committee. He is currently Governor of ACP's Missouri Chapter.
